The rolling dunes. Camel rides. Hiking through the Atlas Mountains. The bustling medinas. The couscous-laced meals. The seemingly endless supply of mint tea. The super friendly, welcoming people. Morocco will challenge and change you.
Although it can sometimes be overwhelming, it is well worth the effort to travel to Morocco. It was my first time in Morocco, and I fell in love as soon as I arrived.
It cannot be easy to navigate this country of 37 million people. Morocco’s intimate and personal nature can prove difficult for new travelers. Morocco is a country that is full of sensory overload. This is why an organized tour may be the best way to experience it firsthand.
The two-week Best of Morocco trip with Intrepid Travel was an amazing experience and a great introduction. It was a wonderful tour, and I enjoyed it. It’s not the only option. Other travel agencies will take you to the best places in the country and around the countryside.
Intrepid
Intrepid is my favorite multi-day, small-group tour operator (with whom I traveled to Morocco, Jordan and Madagascar). Its tours are always a great experience. I love the guides and their dedication to the local community.
Intrepid is also environmentally friendly and uses local guides and transport. It doesn’t rush tours and is very affordable (tours start at $383 and can go up to $7600 per person depending on the tour length and duration). You will find a mix of older and younger travelers on the tours, a great combination of educational and fun. It’s not boring, and you learn a lot. It is a great learning way, and I cannot recommend it enough.
Nomadic Tours
For nearly two decades, this company has guided travelers through the narrow streets, medinas and mosques of Morocco. Nomadic Tours has the nicest thing about it. If not enough people sign up, they won’t cancel the tour. Are you two? It’s still available! If you are solo, there is no additional charge.
Wandering Earl Tours
Earl, my friend from Wandering Earl, leads an epic tour through Morocco. You’ll be able to see the best of Morocco, visit Berber and Bedouin communities and enjoy a 4WD adventure through barren dunes. The tour lasts 14 days. The tours are limited to 12 people and include a single supplement for those who want a private room. Earl, who has traveled the world for over a decade, knows what makes a great tour. His company is unbeatable.
Culture Morocco Tours
This operator offers tours starting from different cities in Morocco. You can take a 2-day or week-long tour of another region of Morocco if you are based in Marrakech, Fes, Tangier, Casablanca or Tangier. You may also find tours that last up to 30 days.
Mountain Bike Morocco
This company offers bike tours on road, mountain, and electric bikes. Most tours are moderately difficult, so you will need to be in good shape. You don’t have to be a professional rider — anyone can do it!
Kiersten, a friend from The Blonde Abroad, created this bespoke tour company that organizes all-female tours across the globe. Their Morocco tour is extremely popular and always sells out. This tour includes visiting the Blue City of Chefchaouen and glamping in the desert. You will also enjoy comfortable stays at local hotels and riads and a hot-air balloon ride. This tour is for female travelers who want to see Morocco in style.
